Templates
Schedule a seasonal logo or meeting background for a period, and let it end by itself.
A template applies a logo, a meeting background, or both, for a set period. Use one for a product launch, a conference week or the holidays. It starts and ends on its own, and when it ends everyone goes back to what they had. There’s nothing to undo.
The Nametags app checks for a running meeting background every 15 minutes, so backgrounds change over within a quarter of an hour of the start or end time. A template’s logo arrives the next time Nametags loads the person’s nametag, which is when they open the app.
Creating a template
Click New template and fill in:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | What you’ll call it, such as “Christmas”. Only admins see this. |
| Who it’s for | Whole organization, or one group. |
| Period | The Start time and End time. |
| Time zone | The time zone the period is read in. Everyone changes over at the same moment, wherever they are. |
| Meeting background | A background from your library, a new upload, or No meeting background. |
| Logo | A logo from your library, a new upload, or No logo. |
| Applies | Replace everyone’s own logo, or leave it unticked. |
A template needs a name and at least a logo or a background. Click Schedule.
Replace, or fill in
- With Replace everyone’s own logo ticked, everyone in scope wears the template’s logo and can’t change it while the template runs.
- Unticked, the template’s logo only appears for people who haven’t set a logo of their own.
A template never shows a logo where your policy hides the logo field.
The meeting background replaces what’s behind people on their video. Anyone who has picked their own meeting background in the app keeps theirs. The app tells people when their organization is running a background.
Overlaps
Two templates for the same audience can’t run at the same time. If a new template’s period overlaps another’s, the console refuses it and names the one it clashes with. A group’s template and an organization template may overlap. For people in that group, the group’s template wins.
Managing templates
The list shows every template. Filter it by Running now, Scheduled or Ended, or by who it’s for.
- Edit changes any part of a template, even one that’s running.
- Delete removes it. If it’s running, people change back as their apps catch up, the same way they do when a template ends.
