Choosing the Nametags camera
How to switch Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Slack and other apps to the Nametags camera.
Once it’s set up, Nametags appears as a camera called Nametags in every app that uses a camera. Choose it the way you’d choose any other webcam. Each app remembers your choice, so you only do this once per app.
Your meeting app doesn’t have to be told anything else. Nametags reads your real camera, adds your tag, and passes the video on. It sends 1280 × 720 video at 30 frames per second.
Don’t see Nametags in the list? Quit the meeting app completely and open it again. Most apps only look for cameras when they start. For Google Meet or any other meeting in a browser, reload the tab.
Zoom
- Before a meeting: open Settings → Video and set Camera to Nametags.
- In a meeting: click the arrow next to Start Video / Stop Video and choose Nametags.
If you also have the Nametags Zoom app open, it notices the Nametags camera and asks you to pick one. Otherwise you’d have two tags on your video.
Microsoft Teams
- Before a meeting: click ⋯ next to your profile picture, then Settings → Devices (or Settings → Devices directly in the new Teams), and set Camera to Nametags.
- Joining a meeting: on the screen before you join, open the device settings and pick Nametags as the camera.
Google Meet
- Before you join: on the preview screen, click the camera name under your video (or Settings → Video) and choose Nametags.
- In a meeting: click ⋮ → Settings → Video and choose Nametags.
Webex
- Before you join: on the preview screen, click the arrow next to Start video and choose Nametags.
- In a meeting: click the arrow next to the video button and choose Nametags.
Slack huddles
Turn on your video in the huddle, then open the huddle’s settings and choose Nametags as the camera.
Everything else
Any app that lets you choose a webcam can use Nametags: other meeting tools, recording software, OBS, browser apps. Look for a camera or video source setting and pick Nametags.
Going back to your plain camera
To show your video without a tag, switch that app’s camera back to your built-in or external camera. Pausing Nametags doesn’t do this. While it’s paused, apps still using the Nametags camera get a still card instead of your video.
